PIB Mumbai has announced the completion of a new 4K restoration of the Malayalam classic Kireedam (1989). The restoration was done by the National Film Development Corporation and National Film Archive of India, it returned to cinemas in India and overseas on 10 July. One of the greatest challenges of the project was the deterioration of the film’s original camera negative, which could no longer be used. The restoration was instead based on a 35mm release print preserved by the National Film Archive of India for more than three decades. Click here for details.
